Stuart and I were going to have braided line knot tying classes on the river today. Catch a few saugers to be released in Crisco Bay later on tonight to help pass the time.
Stuart normally has his boat ready for the river at a moments notice…until the Christmas “storm” got ahead of him. Too much snow and ice on and around his boat to get it ready in time…So we moved on to plan B.
Plan B included Jeff “I’m a Sally” Harcey as he mentioned he would like to get out today. The more the merrier…today he said he was going to back peddle out so his tootsies would stay warm.
No problem…I told Jeff we really didn’t want to baby sit today anyway.
Ok, still on track for plan B. Hooked up the boat, checked the trolling motor. Then checked the motor. She wouldn’t turn over. Hooked up the jumper pack….and nothing. The old four stroker just wanted to stay warm like Jeff.
As we moved on to plan C, AlvinMac came off of the river. I asked how the bite was. He said “just like Dean said…stupid good”.
Plan C was to cover the boat back up, go home and make the wives happy.
I guess a person shouldn’t be too disappointed. These motors aren’t made to start after a -25* night. It was still around -10* when we were working on getting out.
Moral of the story?
Make sure your motor is willing to start before leaving home on theses slightly cooler than normal days.
