Well appears most everyone is at the Ice show this weekend, the anglers who did make it out report “the best bite of the year” so far. They also commented on how few boats were out on the water.A sauger came in at 4#15oz and 22 inches.

Small profile plastics seemed to be leading the way vertical, but several presentations including dragging produced results as the reports are still coming in.

Some times a guy just needs a little push in the right direction. Thanks for the report!

Here I have been sitting on the fence watching weather forecasts wondering if I should get my down there with the temps dropping. Hmmm being I have off next week. Im sure I could find at least 1 good day to fish. Thanks for the update Dean. Oh I was also wondering what would be the best day & are the ramps still going to be open & whats the best lure or presentation to use &… See you in a couple days.

We were out today and had 95 fish in about 5 hours of vertical jigging. At least half of those fish were in the 15-20″ class. Most of them came off deep seams in 20-30 fow.

Stop in to Everts and see Dean if you are heading out tomorrow. Besides good advice, he’s also got a few new plastics and colors that worked very well today.

Good luck out there guys !

Of course it is after I put away our boat , anyway I cannot complain . Busy getting ready for Ice Fishing on Rainy. 1 comment I will make as when we were up at the dam this year how courteous boats were. At least when we fished everyone did their part in watching out for each other

I heard there is a re-hab 12 step program available to who put their boats away in the winter.

A buddy and I were out yesterday afternoon. We put some good fish in the boat by dragging, pitching and pulling 3 ways. I think the bite may have been a little slower on sunday than saturday from the reports above. The jiggers were getting a few fish, but it didn’t look like anyone was putting the hurt to them. We may even have boated a few saugeye. Some of the fish appeared to have too much green on them to be sauger. They surely looked different than the other sauger we boated. Not too bad down there with mid 20 degree weather and light winds for an afternoon in december.

I was also out yesterday with my Dad. We had about 55 fish in the 5 hours we were there. The biggest was a fat 21.5″ sauger. I started with blades and switched to small plastics and that was by far the best for us. Most of our fish came in 24′-30′ of water. All and all another great day on the water!! Wish the forecast looked better for this weekend.
