Any recent reports for the dam area? Not looking for techniques just water conditions. Thinking about heading up that way tomorrow and just want to know if its worth the drive. Some recent reports stated alot of weeds coming down. Thanks for any info, Dan

Here’s a link for the water levels on the river.

I would recommend heading up to Red Wing.

If you want to catch a bunch of little 6-10 sauger and don’t mind taking grass off your jig every couple of minutes Linx is the place to be…

Ah right guys. There’s been enough commotion about the severity of the annual Fall flush to provoke me into a response. Yes. The weed parade headed southward is as bad this year as I’ve EVER witnessed. Multitude of reasons. Improved clarity. Progression of the island projects on the southern end of Pool 8. Excellent growing season. A late frost…to name a few at the top of the list. While all these weeds may have provided excellent habitat for fish all spring/summer long. The tables are now turned. Dead & decaying weeds are oxygen burners. It’s vital the flow increases before ice up and the river flushes itself or we’ll re-define the words WINTER KILL.

So if you make it out on the “river” yet this Fall or any Fall and find yourself cleaning the grass off your line every other minute….SMILE….It’s a good thing.

I was out last weekend…the grass is still present…3-waying is tuff but still doable…v-jigging is still catching fish…lots of small ones..with a few that one could throw in the fry pan here and there…

Pitching in the AM and PM has not produced one fish for me…

    Not Yet Anyways !!!
