    See link: http://www.startribune.com/local/64506172.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUUF

A Burnsville man has been charged with possessing a gross over-limit of walleye, illegal packing of fish, and illegal transportation of fish after authorities found 250 walleye fillets, or 125 fish, in a northern Minnesota freezer.

Apprently he was a Game HOG ?

If true, hopefully the Court’s Punish with MAXIMUM Penalty’s.

I see the wheels of justice continue to grind slowly. Busted May 11 (Monday after opener) Charged Oct 6th. Whats up with that?

That’s our justice system at work. I’ve had court on cases that are over a year old.

    Very True ,
Whatever happened to SPEEDY TRIALS ?

Should not an over possesion limit to that extent be a FELONY?

Imagine all the game hogs that aren’t caught. It would be scary to know how many people hold more than their limit in the freeze. I’m sure many IDO’ers included.

You have the right to a speedy trial…if it benefits you. In this case if you delay maybe you get leniency. They are proabably backed up in the courts system, but it just doesn’t look good. I’ll be he was still fishing between then and now, with or without a license. Just burns me.

If you ask me, I’d say there’s a few in our group that could probabally run for public office

What do we pay for a fishing license a year? $40?
    Why not $50
Set up 2, 3 or 4 specifically located judges in each state to handle game violations only. Hunting/fishing both…
Payroll would come from the states license fee increase.
Increase the fines to include jail time and make it mandatory to appear in court for your violation.

    ALSO!!!

Offer HUGE $ amount to the people that turn in the poachers and a conviction…$1000

There is no perfect system, that’s for sure, but until the violators are scared…they will keep on violating…

For $1000…I’d turn in my preacher!!

I kept only 3 fish all year due to swollowed crank baits. swollowed hooks cut line and let go but cranks will not come out.

I disagree….why charge more to the honest people?

Pay those judges with increased fines, yes…..but pay them by increasing my fees…NO WAY. It’d be just another tax.

This guy should be dinged heavily……but in the end, they are still only fish……

He prolly had one hell of a fish fry planned….would have been a good one to be invited to. I’ll bet there are very few on here that can honestly claim they have never eaten at a fish fry somebody had that ‘may’ have been over their possession limit. But then again, it is hard to [censored] with a full mouth…..

If I pulled a stunt like that I would have been in jail 2 weeks before opener. That’s just my luck. One more reason to walk the straight an narrow. Get on it boys.

Another thought is that he may be selling them to a local restaurant. It would be interesting to see what the penalty would be for harvesting for resale. Either way, it is tragic.

    how did this play out????

was he guilty??? some states at one time allowed you to keep what is i believed called a “daily aggregate”. and seeing how this was early in the season and he was transporting them,,,maybe he caught them in one of those states???? doubtful, but possible.

Since he was busted May 11, charged Oct 6th. I’d expect the trial to be August 2010 with a conviction Jan 2011 and the appeals lasting well into 2014!

I was charged with something absolutely rediculous. In fact as far as we know, I am the first person ever to be charged with this offense. I get my day in court 23 months after the incident.
