My son caught a 27″ 6.6lb Walleye on the topwater plug in this photo. I actually say the strike as I was jigging next to the boat watching his plug. The strike occurred during a long pause on the surface followed by the loudest SCHLOOP sound I’d ever heard. I immediately went for the net, turned back around and saw the belly and tail fin of this beast thrashing on the surface before she headed for the bottom. My wife also caught this 19″ smallie two casts earlier in the same spot. Thanks Roy Lake!!!!!

It’s all possible……In Canada a few years ago we were throwing spinner baits for Smallmouth as walleye was closed on that particular lake. We were catching way more Walleye than bass! Last week we were trolling 3 MPH in 3′ of water catching walleye on Pelican lake near ashby. That’s a nice piggy though.

I caught an 18″ and 16″ walleye pre-fishing for a bass tourney on a pop-r. They came on the backside of a wingdam in 6′ of water. They hit it as hard as any bass has hit a pop-r. I wasn’t totally surprised I’ve caught walleyes on spinnerbaits, plastics and swimjigs before. I guess when there hungry they eat whats available. Dan

I was motoring into a boat launch on Beaver Dam lake when I saw the surface boiling up along the shore in about 1fow. Ultralight and a baby Pop-R and I hammered walleyes that night under a street light. They had bait fish pushed up on the shoreline and was in the middle of a major feeding frenzy. I’ve had walleyes smack some pretty big musky baits also. Nice fish!

This is the only one i have ever caught on top, but it hammered a spook harder then any smallmouth ever has.

I was tossing a buzz bait a few years back and noticed some longer skinny fish hitting it right at dark, but I could not hook up. I slowed the retrieve way down and finally figured what it was catching a nice 18″ walleye.

Been casting #13 floating rapalas for years across wingdams. Quality of fish is hard to believe. Not a lot of numbers but lots of green pigs. No question when these big girls smash these lures.

We typically catch a couple each year on the sippi while bass fishing with poppers. 18-21″ fish and the darker/stormier the day the better.

I have done it in Canada never here in the states. Was fishing early in the season on a fly out and found a creek feeding into the lake we were fishing in. I noticed fish feeding on the surface and we proceed to cast twister tails to them pulling out a number of nice walleye. Then on a bet I put on a hula popper. I went 4 for 5, 4 fish in 5 casts then on the 6th a northern hit the hula popper and bit it off. Also scared off the walleye.
