This morning was the first day in which I was able to use my newly made St.Croix MLXF rod.
The FW and I arrived @Everts around 9am only to find it windy and dark clouded, We sat a bit at the bait shop to see what the weather had in store for us .
We decided no matter what the weather was going to do we would hit the water and give it our best shot at some eyes and day time cats.
I picked a spot that had produced for us 2 weeks ago,Due to being windy I decided to anchor instead of drifting.
It only took but a couple of cast and we were on fish ,1st fish was in the box ,in a matter of an hour we boxed 4 nice keeper walleys and I released one 23 1/2″ walleye to catch another day. Bait of the hour again for us was a blue draggin jig / leech and orange precision jig /1/2 crawler. We had several good hits but if we didnt keep the line tight we would miss the hook ups.
Did manage 2 little channel cats, but NO braggers
I do believe the hook ups that were successful were due to the new rod ,even tho the wind made it a tuff bite I was able to feel the lightest hit.I am starting to learn what all the hipe is about with these rods. A very sweet rod indeed
Here are a couple of pics from today, my release fish and some table fare
