Only my second year out on Devils Lake ND fishing. This year was a huge improvement. Ended up with a 38″ pike on a Mimic Minnow and inside 20 minutes later I caught a 29.75″ 9.7 pound walleye. Both released after the pictures.

Nice fish! Was that the one calm day allowed per year in North Dakota? I am guessing you are a tall dude also. You make those nice fish look smaller.

I am 6’9″ so I guess I throw off the context of things a little. We actually had a couple days where it was pretty calm and if you have been to ND you know the weather changes about every hour. That particular day it was over 90 degrees with the surface water temps pushing 80.

Devils Lake is by far my favorite place to fish and I just got back from there on Sunday. My best guess was 80 walleyes (top one 25″) and about 150 white bass with some giants mixed in. Not many northerns this trip and was slightly dissappointed with 25″ walleye being the biggest but what a blast. Bring your bass gear to get those walleyes out of the trees! I am heading back in a few weeks and will be counting down the days! Water is up about another 2′ from when I was there 2 years ago. There are a few landings that are now closed so if you head out make sure you do your homework first.

Forgot to mention we only fished for about 3 days total!
