The temps are starting to get hot during the day. I am wanting information on targeting walleye at nite in the shallows. The primary forage here is gizzard shad. So pitch shad raps or pitch jigs and minnows? Thanks for the help guys

If it was me I would throw a swimbait like the Storm Wide Eye Shad in 4″ or 5″
goes threw weeds good and only 1 hook to try and get out in the dark.
by the way when the walleyes hit it,
its not softly so hold on

Great suggestion. You might also want to try leeches under a lighted slip bobber if the fish don’t respond to the swimbait.

We have had great success for years flat lining cranks above the weed tops. As they get to high, we use as shallow running baits as we can eventually moving to the edges of the weedline. We have been able to get fish in our Gin clear water as close as 40′ behind the boat.

Braided line helps detect the smallest of fouling and holds up well against the zebra mussels, just be prepared for some pretty aggressive bites !

one other thing we do is use a #11 original Rapala, and crank it in as slow as we can, so it’s just under the surface.
we do this from shore in as little as 1 foot of water on Fireline so that when it hits a weed, a quick snap of the rod and its clear
nothing gets the blood pumping like a 20+” walleye hitting the lure at your feet

Thanks for the help guys. I am going out tonite to try the nite bite here on my home lake. I have never fished at nite for walleye so this is something new for me. If I mark fish out in deep water should I try catching those or just focus on the shallow fish. Right now I know during the day the walleye are relating to 20-30 foot of water. Thanks again for the help guys
