I used to run leadcore on planer boards all the time. It is hard on the leadcore though. It breaks the leads thus creating weak spots in the line. I haven’t used boards with leadcore since I purchaced 2 Bass Pro Shops Walleye Angler Signature Series 12 ft trolling rods and 2 Perigrin 5 ft trolling rods. This set up gives me a perfect spread of my baits and minimizes tangles. You can order the 12 ft’ers from Bass Pro and Dean at Evert’s has the 5 ft shortie rods. I know several guys running this same set up and they too absolutely love it.

Are those trigger rods you have, Ben? Are THESE them?

I gotta get something going. Everyone else is going out and catching fish, and I’m not, simple as that.

Ben, what kind of rod holders are you using with this set up? My boat has a narrow edge like the one in the photo.

    Thanks,

I have rails on the back of the boat and run Ram rod holders on the rail.

Here’s a close up shot of the rail and holders.

That’s the set up I run too. The rail allows you to turn the base towards or away from the water for that precise angle. You can also easily loosen a screw, and slide the base up and down the rail.

    Lead works great on boards.

Also, don’t forget the Jason Mitchell series 14′ Leadcore rods. This will give you the option of running 3 lengths fairly safely.
