Is anybody having any luck down below the Dubuque dam? I’ve tried there 2 days in a row now without a single bite. I’ve tried just about everything in my arsenal. I’ve used minnows, ringies, p-tails, hair, blades in every color. I’ve tried deep, shallow, current seams, anchoring, drifting, wingdams. I’ve tried some side channels also. The water temps were at 45 so is there a chance the spawn is done? An old timer came off the water yesterday and said he hasn’t had a bite in 3 days. Just wondering if anybody has got it figured out. Thanks, Dan

Good question JD. With all of the great sticks in Dubuque it would be hard to believe that someone hasn’t figured them out.
Everyone thought the Dubuque area would be on fire after the late opening and slots. Haven’t heard many good things. 45degrees should be primo! With the very gradual warm up this spring the bite windows seem to be scattered out.
Let me know when you want to go again

You would think with the slot and closed season it would be better. The sad thing is I really haven’t heard any good reports all year. Do you think they slid downstream farther? Or do you think they slid up super shallow? If the spawn is going on i assume they wont feed or dont feed very often. Like you said Jeff with all the good sticks in the area why aren’t they down there trying. Looks like monday will be the next day I can get out.

JD we were down one pool below you yesterday. We caught alot of fish but struggled to get very many over 14″. Almost everything we caught was milking like crazy. I’m positive those big girls are up shallow doing there thing and not really interested in anything we have to offer. Maybe 1-2 feeding periods a day?? We had to go real slow and not give our baits any pumping action at all. Matter of fact our dead rods out fished us. Glenn

JD, I just got off the water and didnt get a thing either. This marks the third trip in a week with nothing to show for it. I was throwing everything possible at them. I fished shallow, deep and ,mid range waters but no bites. I did pick up quite a few fish on the finder but nothing hitting. If you have any luck let me know what you did to entice them to bite. Thanks
