I got my boat out for the first time yesterday and ran thru all the gidgets and gadgets in the boat.I remembered to put the plug in the boat as well as the plug in the live well I use for storage

I went out in front of the park running the trolling motor and watching the 520c. There was about 30 boats out there this day and I thought for sure I would get into the community bite… Well it wasn’t to be…Chatting with several other out there I wasn’t alone…I tried several plastics and jig combo’s with out even a tap…So after 6-8 drifts I pulled out of there..I went down to the mouth of the Wisconsin River and got jiggy with it out there to with no results… Well by now it;s getting to be2 to 3 pm and I’m thinking that this is just going to be one of those days…I make a last effort back in front of the park but this time I drop a small stick bait on a 3 way rig..and with in minutes i hooked up with a nice sauger…

    Ta Daaaa

So with in the next couple of hours I landed another dozen or so saugers and missing several more…What a blast and a great way to put an end to the weekend !!

we were there, too, and pullin cranks is about the only thing we didnt try. caught a lot of fish on glitter jigs and minnow or buck n rubber with minnow but no keepers. had several 14 1/2 inch walleyes.
btw, how far down is the mouth of the wisconsin river?

water was fairly clear – i’d say 8-10 inch visibility, but cold – 31.7 saturday and 32.0 sunday.

I was on pool 10 as well on Sunday. Bite was horribly slow for us. I only got three fish, but they were at least all keepers. Caught a 16.5″ wally, a 19″ wally and a 29 inch northern. Glad to hear you figured out how to get the saugers!! Nice catch!

Those are some nice saugs Mr. Koonce! Here I was thinking you’d still be trying to cross that spring run off ditch with your three wheeler for a quick run up to Fennimore Cut.

I have been bustin my prop looking for them dang walleyes and saugers down here around Prairie and I have come up with very little to show for it…Time to move up stream a bit I guess…

As the river rises the fish will move out of there early staging areas and get ready to do what god intended them to do each year…

I’m going to be up around the Lynxville dam on Saturday afternoon…Maybe we will see you up there !!!
