I was out scouting around for fishing the FYB contest out of Everts…I have a hard time telling the size…any help out there?

    I’m thinking I’m dialed in!

I took a picture of this “control object” using the same Marcum camera to use as a comparison for size.

The control object is 19 inches vertical and 4 inches wide.

Nope. That’s a quillback but there’s no denying the similarities.

Thank you James, I think Pete was nipping there a bit.

    Pete, this isn’t Stuart either.

The one thing I did notice is that larger eyes were much spookier than the smaller fish. Maybe it was because of the shallower water and no cover.

    No, no Rich I won’t.

It’s too hard to get bullheads this time of year.

    Had you worried though huh?

Yep, you had me worried Brian. I remember one Saugarama where you thought the dock was your boat. It wasn’t to bad when you vertical jigged but when you wanted to troll

Are you saying I didn’t need to toss out that anchor???

Getting back to the one large walleye picture….

When I’ve gone catfishing…I seldom drop the anchor in quietly. From what I’ve observed with these larger than average walleyes…tossing an anchor in, dragging an anchor…or even motoring around the big fish holding areas will shut off the fishing completely.

This camera has shown me that while I like to yack on the river to other fisherman/friends, I’m not doing their fishing any good by motoring up to them. Cats and saugers by the dam are a different story… as a few people have said…

These fish don’t get big by being stupid!

Brian has scared a few small children—and some adults—in his time Stuart, that’s for sure

And Brian, if you were accidently trying to be serious then you do make a good point. A big walleye isn’t much different than a big buck—it didn’t get that way by making mistakes.
