I’m looking for a hammered jig head. not smooth round but hammered or with flat spots if that makes sense. in gold and silver color.

for fishing the rainy river. i found some in the baitshop that went out of business up in baudette a few years back, have run out and none of the other ones carry them in gold. only silver.

any help in advance is appreciated.

    Hi Hnd,

Not sure on those jigs?? Haven’t ever seen any. We fish the Rainy River plenty hard spring and fall, and I can tell you that it will be very tough to go wrong with the Fire tiger patterns of the H20 Precision jigs. The Orange and Yellow tiger are incredible. They are incredible for holding up after getting pounded on the rocky bottoms. The longer shank makes is a fantastic jig for hooking shinners!! Lastly If you haven’t pitched paddletails during the upcoming period give it a shot!! You get away with fishing it much more aggressively than a jig and minnow set up. Also try the White jig head with numerous Shinner imitating color sequences!! I know I’ll be slinging them!! I try to imitate a perch or shinner pattern. If your not using these jigs your missing out buddy!!

Oh by the way WELCOME TO IDO!!! We’ll see you on the water!! We’ll be the boys with the BECKMAN in the water all the time!!

about 1/2 hour away from tiffin and am extremely familiar with custom and the b fish n guys. use their jigs alot down here.

if fish with alot of older guys, (i’m the young buck) and we basically hunker/anchor down in the holes (18 ft of water) they know and let the fish work their way past us while we jig jigs and shiners/rainbows, or spinner rigs. We have great success but i know it still could be better.
what are some of the best ways you find to work fish in early april as well as early october.

Well I would highly encourage you to grab a snack and watch the awesome show James did on the Rainy River during the Spring Run. A good buddy of mine is a vertical fisherman for the most part, and I’m a slinger. It is a great combination to have tw good sticks in the boat with different techniques. At times I have to drop over the side to keep up with the action, and at times he’ll start slinging with me as he gets sick of handling the net. First off in any sort of aggressive bite you cover way more area working a jig in a cast and retrieve mode. I also believe the plastics will bring bigger fish in your boat. Remember that a simple lift and hold/drop… Lift and hold/drop is effective when varying currents are in play. Your ability to match proper weight/plastic vs. current will play a big role in your success. Watch the video buddy!! IT WILL FIRE YOU UP!! I’ve had the pleasure to fish with James on several shoots, and he is “Lights Out” fishing plastics!! If he notices this post I bet he’ll chime in that the combo he put together was a lot of fun, and trust me not many are doing it………YET!!

i had 1 left last fall. first 2 days i was outfishing 3 guys by myself. they were using pimples and gold round head jigs. 2 hours into the morning, i’m on my way to laying it to them again and i snag it on a log….

will be giving some of the firetigers a shot this year…
