I have to be in the Green Bay area the 1st week of August. Thinking about making it a fishing trip. I have never fished real big water. I have a 16ft v-bottom boat. Is this too small or is there fising close to shore this time of year? Any information would be appreciated.

It will all depend on the weather. The way it’s going this year, I would expect that you would have at least one or two days of stable weather. If everything continues to be about three weeks behind, you should experience early-mid July type weather.

The bay can be as calm as glass some days, that being said, I would not take a 16′ boat out on a day with more than 7mph winds, especially out of the N or NE. The fish will likely be suspended off reefs within 4-5 miles from shore, so you won’t be too far off.

Shoot me a PM when it gets closer and I’ll let you know what’s been going on and give you a starting point.
