I worked all night friday night on a fellow members truck to make time for my first open water adventure this weekend.

I also spent a great deal of the winter tying up bucktail jigs and was very anxious to try them out and did it pay off for us today.NO BIGGIES , but nice numbers.

My brother and I took his elderly nieghbor (too hard for him to fish by himself) to the Winona area in search of some walleyes we only fish about 3 1/2 hours and between the 3 of us we boated over 30 fish and I lost the only biggie at the boat . (which is ok tho cause it would have gone back anyways ).We only kept 3 each also ,the biggest being my 3.75 walleye .They werent all leagal size but another 1/2-3/4 of an inch and they all would have been. .

I have never caught so many that size there before during one outing..We had to measure every fish just to make sure.

It was a grand day to be out on the water with family and friends.

My take home meal is pictured. All Males

Last but most importantly the HOT jig color for me of the day was a replica of the 1/4oz Patriot hair jig with meat vertical jigging 25fow at 10-12 foot down . Meat was needed or they wouldnt even hit the jig, the bigger the fathead the better,As a matter of fact I only switched colors once and it was to that color after being there for 1/2 hour with not one hit on plastics.

I figured it out and it paid off.

Now I got the FEVER real bad.

    Come on warm weather !!!

Sounds like you had a fun day.

It is fun when you figure them out and when you catch them on your home made bait it just gets you hooked.

Nice fish and great job getting them figured out. Suspended Walleyes are tough to pattern, but once you do, hang on because they are ready to eat!
