I was lucky enough to be able to book a trip with Mr. Holst last weekend for some night trolling on Mille Lacs thanks to Gary Wellman! Thanks Gary your a heck of a nice big guy .

My Bro in law and I headed out to meet James at 6:30 by 7:15 we had our first fish!

We headed up to the north end to troll. We were targeting the shallow weeds trolling X-raps in Perch and in Clown. Those to colors seem to be the hot ticket up there right now. I thought James was kidding but he called me a couple hours before we were to meet. He needed a couple more for his arsenal.

What seemed to work for us was 115′ to 140′ of line trolled at 1.5 to 1.8 mph in anywhere from 6′ to 10′ of water. We caught Walleyes ranging from 17″ to 27 3/4″. I got the big one my NEW Personal BEST EYE! Pretty stoaked about that

My bro in law and I hada small bet going but I blew him out the water so bad it was not funny.

Neatest thing for me the whole night was when James caught a tagged fish. That was pretty neat! I entered the info on the DNR site but have not heard anything yet.

What a night to remember. Boated over 20 fish and a couple bigger ones came unglued at the boat. Got to learn a little and most importantly had a really good time!

Thanks for sharing your boat James

one of the few posts I have ever seen James with a fish in his hands. He’s a class act when it comes to guiding so I’ve heard. Glad you guys had a great time.
