I had the pleasure of fishing with Andy Craig and his friend Brad this past week-end. We met early Sat. morning to chase some walleyes but with the grass coming down river and water clarity taking a hit it turned out to be a tough bite. A main backshoot above town turned out to be the only spot to muster up a little action.
Cranks were out of the question so we pitched jigging spoons, blades and plastics. The plastic bite was spotty to say the least with almost all of our fish coming on 1 eyes and a few other choice spoons.
Stripers on the other hand were on a major binge and they basically saved the day for us attacking all sorts of baits.
Water temp was a concern too ,started out at 66 deg.sat and by the time we finished it was a shade under 70.
We did get up to the tail waters of Guttenberg in the afternoon and all I can say is,what a mess!
Sun.we opted for pool 10 around the river of lakes area but it was more of the same. The main channel was a joke. We did however find some nice looking areas for the near future when the water cleans up and the real bite begins.
It was a pleasure fishing with you and Brad, Andy !
Let’s do it again real soon.
