From another forum, I also will not be doing any business with Terry:

Ok, so the latest outdoors paper comes and I’m reading through a article about the newly changed slot. I can’t believe what I just read. This is a couple of the quotes from an article by Vivian Clark of the Mille Lacs Messenger:

With unprecedented pressure on the lake playing a large role in the tighted slot limit, Terry Thurmer, of Terry’s Boat Harbor, on St. Albans Bay, suggested closing the public accesses or charging a fee to the users.

“Those people who come up and use the public accesses buy their bait in the cities, take OUR fish and go home without spending a dime here,” Thurmer said. ” There shouldn’t be any free access to the lake. The guy’s using the public access are not the guys paying real estate taxes here. You are making it really easy for them and really hard for us to make a buisness. We need to keep the fishing prostitutes away from the the public access.”

Then Aikin County Commissioner Paul Bailey said he would like the DNR to consider a moratorium on building more public accesses.
“We don’t need more free access,” Bailey said. “We have to think about the buisnesses trying to make a living, not the prostitutes from the cities.”

I am absolutely shocked that somebody would say this out loud at a public meeting.

Oh…..and Terry’s is not getting my business anymore.

Well, if this is true and Terry said that, then I guess that makes him a PIMP because he’s taken plenty of “prostitutes” money over the years. Could anyone really be that arrogant? “Take OUR fish”….HUH??? It’s the life and career you chose, get over it, that lake nor those of us who fish it owe any of the businesses surrounding it a damn thing. If we want to support them it is due to their convenience and out of the goodness of our hearts. Furthermore, comments such as Terry’s make me want to spend my money elsewhere more than ever, now. I can’t believe somebody would be dumb enough to say that….where is it printed, I want to read it for myself?
