I was wondering if you guys have used Rapala’s DT series for casting wingies?

They are suppose to go down quick to a designated depth.

Moreyes. I use them alot in open water. They do head ditectly to the intended depth. The only though O would have os that the longer bills on them may tend to hang up if you misscalculate the depth your throwing into.

Yes! DT 4 and DT 6. Love ’em. Enough weight to cast a country mile, great colors and rattles too. Only downside is the cost.

I love to throw them too! The Bass chew them up on the wingdams.

Deep diving cranks like the DT work well on wingdams. By being able to get down to the structure faster your crank will spend more time in the hit zone. I believe the deeper diving the better when it comes to casting cranks on wingdams. Don’t worry too-much about getting hung up on wingdams with cranks. Most crankbait hang-ups on wingdams and rock piles occur when the lip gets caught on a rock. In most cases all you need to do is give your line a little slack and it should float out. I cast cranks often and I’ve only lost 2 so far this year. One when I had a walleye on and the line was cut on a gill plate and the other when I got snagged on an underwater cable or something that would not give up the crank. With a deeper diving crank you can slow up your retrieve which works well with summer time walleyes. The cost of the DT’s is an investment but then so are my favorite crank which is the jointed shad rap.

I have a fair number of them and gave them a workout on the wingdam walleyes last year with limited success. After that, I just kind of stored them away . Might have to give them another go if some of you have had success on them. Every bait has it’s day

I’ve had about the same as Dustin. Just couldn’t get them to go. I’ve also had problems with the bills snapping off.

Dustin, Lenny, maybe you two should just sell them to me for a substantial discount. I’ve never fished them, but for the right price I’ll try almost any bait!

I’ve caught some real dandies on Pool 2 on the DT’s. They work well during high water, but not so much during low water. At least for me anyways. I get them hung up too often during low water on snaggy dams.
