This is not a walleye picture but a picture of the Detroit River in Spring. A great place to fish in spring and a place everyone should fish if you like to verticle jig for walleye

Here is my biggest P2 fish from this year. It was a lucky one because it hit a crank boatside and I was out alone. Olny had that one tailhook in but was able to put a net on it before it even knew it was hooked I think and it was one of them were the hook let free in the net…. WHEWWWW

May 28, 2007 at 4:13 am #575469Here’s a couple from this past friday. I fished with Amy & Mike Kopez and their daughter Joan on pool 4 of the Mississippi River and Amy had the HOT hand. It didn’t matter where I put her in the boat or what crankbait pattern she pulled… this gal could flat out catch fish!
This first pic is of a 29″ walleye she caught on a #5 shad rap trolled TIGHT against some snaggy timber. She followed up this 29″ with a 25″ walleye (following photo) and a 22.5″ sauger.
Not a bad day at all! The 29″ walleye was a bit too heavy and feisty for her to handle so I did the holding.
May 28, 2007 at 4:14 am #575470Amy had no problem with the 25″ walleye.
I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend fishing and I look forward to a fresh batch of 2007 walleye pics.
May 30, 2007 at 4:57 am #576072This may not be the largest fish caught in my boat this year, but this may be best couple of fisherman who I’ll have in my boat all year. Attached is a photo of my brother and two of my nephews with an “average” eye from the pond this past weekend. The two proud little fishermen tagged-team to reel in this beauty, and many more just like her.
May 30, 2007 at 5:18 am #576079That’s a fantastic looking crew you got there!
Thanks for sharing the pic. Keep ’em coming!
May 30, 2007 at 3:51 pm #576221here is my biggest walleye and sauger so far this year…walleye taped out around 29″ Sauger around 23″
May 30, 2007 at 11:14 pm #57639627″ from this spring which is my biggest so far this year from the river.
May 30, 2007 at 11:53 pm #576407fish them all, there’s a post from a year ago this february that has a fish very similar to that little sweetheart from the same spot. I recognize a few things in that background.
micahMay 31, 2007 at 2:49 am #576543Yup. My fav. Walleye Trap too RT-52. Chartreuse Shiner. That thing is a magnet for Walleyes.
May 31, 2007 at 2:58 am #576551I’ve got a couple instances when a trap is my go-to bait. Late May when the willows out on Lake Pepin are flooded…
Oh baby!
May 31, 2007 at 3:34 am #576573They also work pretty good trolling shallow sections of river. Tom where you trolling them?
May 31, 2007 at 3:38 am #576576Trust me when I tell you he’s casting them. 150′ at a time.
When Tom casts the theme song to Top Gun plays softly in the background.
The Morrum (sp?) reels he uses are some of the finest casting reels I’ve ever used.

Patrick I told you that you couldn’t just Photoshop yourself into that other photo and expect someone not to notice, lol. That is a dandy.
May 31, 2007 at 2:31 pm #576605I tried to crop out the background, but not good enough I guess. I need to figure out how to blurr the background in the future.
June 1, 2007 at 1:54 am #576841patrick, your secret is safe with me. well done on that one though, very nice fish.
micahJune 1, 2007 at 5:42 pm #577078The “Queen’s” first-ever walleye, caught last night trolling… measured in just under 24″ and just over 3lbs. Normally wouldn’t have kept one this size but since it was her first ever walleye, she wanted to show it off to the kids
