    Hey,

Just a few specific questions on trolling rods.

I currently own two Cabelas Depthmaster Trolling Rods, they are the 9′ telescopic trigger handle models. I want to get two more and I would like them to be telescopic or 1 piece model preferably with a trigger handle and a different length.

Any suggestions? Two will be lead core and the other two will be braid.

Also, with the leadcore, what size swivel are people using to connect to their leader? What kind of knot are you using on the lead core end? How long of a leader? With my leadcore setup, it seems like I end up reeling my swivel through my guides whenever landing a fish and I know that will bite me in the soon.

Thanx, I did read that one already, as far as I can tell at least some of my questions are a bit more specific than what’s in that discussion…

I would use 6fts for your lead core and your 9fs for your braid, that will help keep your baits from running together and making a big mess, as far as leader length, i star at about 3ft. i use a trilene knot on the swivel with my braid and leadcore but i slide the knot done to the swivel while it is still loose then snug it up , ive never had one come untied. on your swivel size i dont realy know the size but with a 3 to 4 ft leader its never a problem keep in mind the bigger the swivel the more it will catch weeds. hope this helps you.

For connecting Lead Core i like to use the tip in Walleye insider this month. On the Dacron create a loop and on your leader create a loop. Pass the loops inside of each other and run the tag of the leader end through. Very easy and works great.

Is there a web graphic of this or is there a name for the knots?
