While I’m always excited to try something new (looking forward to trying the new Minnow Raps this year), I gotta tell you – I’ve landed more ‘eyes on a good ol’ #11 Original Floater; Perch color than any other.
I too think the minnow rap is going to be a great one, but if I could only choose one, as of now I would go with a shallow running husky jerk. They can be fished at all depths and I have had some great days on the water with them.
My favorite crank is my exwife! Actually I fell in love with jointed Shad Raps a few years back. I’ve used dozens of different cranks and most will catch fish if they are properly tuned. Many times it is worth the extra couple of bucks to get good ones as you know they will run true. Walley Divers are great cranks as are Bombers and even the less-expensive Norman Lures cranks have put fish in the livewell. Jointed Shad Raps have been the most productive crank that I have ever cast or trolled. I particularily like the ones that are blue on the back, white on the sides and orange on the belly. The fish seem to like them even better. The only thing I don’t like about the jointed Shad Raps is the price as they are a tad bit pricey.
