Ok folks I need some help here. I am planning an icefishing trip for this upcoming winter. I am wanting to catch some big walleye. Looking to head to northern wisconsin or minnesota. Just looking for some suggestions on where to go. I’m willing to work hard for some quality fish. Any suggestions on where to try?

If you looking for big walleyes you might want to add Canada’s lake winnipeg to your list. There’s some true hogs up there. If you can’t make it up there I would look into LOTW,rainy, Green Bay, St. Louis river and the big pond first ice.

    Whats your definition of big?

I would think Rainy Lake and hire Chris Granrud with RainyDaze guide service. He seems to really get on the big pigs during the winter.

Erie(a little farther but great fishery), Green Bay, Bays de Noc.

The truly huge fish reside in the great lakes. Your chances to whap a big one are gonna be much better on one of them.

I agree with the last said post, LOTW and Rainy offer chances as big fish, odds go way up on a body of water like Winnipeg, or Erie. Depending on your situation hire a guide and even more ensure you will hook up with that double digit weight fish.- QB
