Love my Panfish Sweethart with recoils, but need something a little more for when fishing lakes like Red when I catch walleyes 15″+. Do I need to spend another $90 or is there something else that is lighter on the pocket book?

I use a perch sweetheart myself for jigging for walleyes. Also many people on this site have had great experiences with the TUC rods.

    Short answer yes.
Once you do get a very nice rod it is hard to go back. REC guides are so much more durable and lighter than any “stock” rod on the market.

If you are using Rippin Raps that rod will be on the lighter side. You need something with more power in the tip and the backbone. IMHO.

What length rod are you looking for?

I fish in a Otter Cabin and the rest of my rods are 26-28″ so I was looking for a 28″.

Also I do not use rippen raps or any thing like that just Buckshot type spoons.

    St. Croix PIR32M.

I have caught lots of walleye from LOW to Mille Lacs and lakes between using this rod. This is a good jigging rod with spoons and raps. It’s a decent price point rod, but not the same as the top shelf stuff.

You best spend another $90 for another ice rod I can’t imagine anything else would work!

Try DH custom with fly guides. I like their perch pounder for this type of work. Thinking it might cost about $65ish
Dustin is a easy guy to work with. Good luck

It’s not the arrow my friend, you don’t need the top of the line rods and reels but they are nice to fish with, don’t kid yourself if usining a dead stick its’ still a glorified rattle reel although wifh many different versions and gimicks, i may be old school but a jiggin rod will always get extra $ spent on it but im not just drowning a minnow but like i said its all about the fisherman and presentation and everyfhing inbetween

Like others have stated you can get a cheap rod that will catch plenty of fish but as you already know there’s a huge difference in quality when it comes to custom rods. I’d take a look at the TUCR P28. It’s a great jigging rod for small to medium spoons. First thing I said when I picked this rod up was Wow! It’s light weight and sensitive!

You don’t “have” to have a nice rod to catch walleye but it sure is a lot more fun!

I used a $19 Gander rod last weekend on LOTW and it worked magnificently. GMCL25RD-L-13. They sell them online.
Stiff enough to use decent sized spoons but with enough action to enjoy catching small fish. Coupled with a Pflueger President 6720 its my favorite walleye rig to date.

No way you can catch fish on an ice rod that didn’t cost at least $75!!!!!

I probably would be impressed with these rods, but i can’t find them in any store to pick up and try.

I have a Thorne Bros Perch SH with Rec guides and I use it for fishing 1/16th and 1/8th oz spoons for walleyes. Anything heavier I use a TB Walleye SH.
