Hello everyone i am planning on going up to little falls minnesota and i am looking to do a little walleye fishing. I am looking for a fishing trip to catch some nice walleyes to take home to eat. I am not so much looking at mille lacs lake because of the 2 walleye bag limit. So i am looking more around Gull, pelican, otter tail lake. i am also looking to fish around October or early November time frame. SO i was wondering how the fishing around these lakes during this time and also how are people normally doing on walleye fishing on these lakes. Is it good or bad or what and also if anyone has any recommendations on guides to go with please inform me with that also. Thanks

It looks like you have quite a wide area of travel when you name lakes like gull which are by brainard and then ottertail which is quite a bit west. I know in the ottertail lakes area you would have many lakes to chose from. I know the fall trolling bite on ottertail on the shallow weedlines 9-12 feet is really good from experience. #7 minnow Raps in hot steel, hot tiger, and bleeding olive all are very good colors for me and family the past few falls. I would do some more research and hopefully some more people chime in for you. I know falls in ottertail county are amazing for the scenery, and most of the time with all the hunting that is going on you find you have the lake mostly to yourself. – QB

If you are in the little falls area I would not bother driving as far as gull or otter tail. There are 3 really good lakes a little more north on hwy 10. Lake alexander, fish trap, and shamineau are all really good lakes for walleye. Of the 3 I think Alexander would be the best for fall fishing. A jig and minnow around any of the Islands on the lake would be a great place to start. Alex also has some great smallmouth and Muskie fishing. Good luck wherever you go. let us know how the trip goes.

Don’t overlook the Mississippi River between Royalton and Little Falls. It has a great mid-day bite.
