If fishing slip bobbers close to or into weeds, how deep do you have the hook/bait?

For instance, if I’m fishing thick weeds that start at 15′ level of lake and get thicker as you get shallower, I’d like to fish into the weeds as far as possible.

Do you set your depth to the weed tops, bottom, or somewhere inbetween. Or do you prefer to fish the weed edge and thus near lake bottom?

Id set my depth in that 10-12 foot depth and move up a litter farther. Big lively leach hanging out in space is hard to resist for walleye. Then again guy could also pitch lipless cranks

I have had great success fishing edges and also dont count out the inside weed edge most weedlines have a inside and outside edge, both can b very productive.

Eric, a lot depends on daylight and other conditions. Yesterday, I caught 150-175 walleyes from 7am to 11pm less coming in for lunch. The lake I’m on was mostly cabbage. It has a canopy just like walking through the woods. Thick top and more sparse bottom. High sun and calm, fish were tight to the bottom against clumps. As the wind picked up, fish were moving around at about 2 feet offf the bottom. After sunset, it was all lipless gizzard shads along weed tops. Most fish were smashing it 1-3 feet down over 8-12 fow.
