Looking at buying a new lead core trolling rod around the 8’6″ to the 10′ range. Thinking about the St. croix eyecon 9′, jason mitchell troller, limit creek troller 8’6″, okuma troller, or wright mcgill tony roach troller. any suggestions or reviews?

I run two Jason Mitchell 10’6″ on the front and “The Runt” 5’0″ from Limit Creek on the back two. On the Mississippi of course. Seems to work pretty good.

Love my Limit Creeks. I have the 5’0″, the 8’6″, and also the 12’0″. You can see a #5 Shad Rap ticking bottom in 35 FOW with ease and it is very easy to tell if your bait becomes fouled when trolling along. Great rods for the money

What type of leadcore trolling will you be doing primarily?

Open Water? Contour/Structure? Rivers or lakes? Are you going to be wanting to attach your lead core line to a planer board? Are you going to want to stack your lead core lines out the back?

My dad personally loves his Jason Mitchell 7 footer. I have also heard nothing but good from the 10’6 model. Not to bash a company but I haven’t heard good things from the limit creek rods. My co-workers had some and they all broke near the third or fourth eyelet. It may have been a fluke from a batch or something but I won’t buy one.

I mainly troll lead core on the St. croix river so I don’t plan on using planers with it (too much riff raff and quick changing contours). The longer the better is what I’m looking for. The Jason Mitchell rods is what I’m leaning towards just the right price and the life time warranty looks appealing.

I like the 9’6″ Mr. Walleye rods.

I just got the wright and McGill tony roach 9 footer I believe. It worked great this weekend with some suffix advance 832 lead core. Really nice action and flex for no ripped hooks. Trolled Mille lacs this past weekend with tail dancer deeps and did well 12 fish from 22 to 26

I am running the St Croix Eyecons and love em! Tried others also, but like my Croixs the best
