Hello everyone or anybody???Well I wanted to expand my knowledge of walleyes “I mean the big gals not the keeper size. A big eye in my book would be 25 incher and up.” Well anyways anybody have a book recommended for me to read, or maybe like a studies that’s been done on big eyes. For example I found a correlation between big eye and small eyes. There been a few times where I’ve found a group of small eye and just within a few feet from the small group of eyes, there the big gals not far behind the small group. I find this interesting and helpful to be a better fisherman, but any suggestion or direction will be appreciated.

Look threw the videos and articles on this web site. Plenty of good info there. You can also use the search feature to look back threw a decade of fishing reports and reply’s.

Search on the web studies from universities or state funded studies that go along with what you are looking for. I believe an old thread on here had a link to a real nice study of eyes on pool 2 and 1 following them around. There has been small mouth studies done of the north of coon rapid dam area, ad well as eye studies of other reservoirs and lakes you just have to Google hard to find. They are about average 75 pages each at least and do use scientific terms which you have to figure out, but once you do they are a boon of knowledge. They give you seasonal movements stats on the individual fish tagged and a much other stuff. And just because its a different species it will still give you good info for any angler to see how that corresponds with the eye.

Some great tips above. I spend all of my time chasing big suspended walleyes on Mille Lacs and I target them by utilizing open water trolling tactics via deep diving crankbaits.

If you want to learn more on how I do this – go to:

    Forums
    IDO Fishing Reports
Under Report Search – click the Month, scroll down and select Any Date
Click Any Reporter – scroll down to my name and select Brad Juaire
    Click Search

You now have have access to all my Mille Lacs open water trolling reports that are loaded with information on how to catch big suspended walleyes.

Another tip: Right click the report and open it in a new page otherwise you have to do the search again.

Are you looking for River or Lake? Each has the own eco systems that trend big eyes in different ways. Along the lines of what brad suggested, look back at the last few years of reports for walleyes. A tremendous amount of info there if you read thoroughly through them!

How about hiring a guide on the particular body of water you wish to target and be specific that you want to target big fish. Might be a little more expensive but much faster.
Is there a link on this site of guides for the River?
