I do the beard for two reasons…..1) I don’t have to waste my fishing time shaving…. And 2) I don’t have to borrow my mom’s ID to buy beer!

30in Walleye caught on a white whistler jig last Thursday. CPR’d to be caught another day. My personal best.

My better eyes from this summer. Mom kept a big one for the wall, everything else pictured was released.

Love the dark coloring on those BWCA fish. They just seem to be a different breed, look meaner for sure. Sweet fish

Great looking fish Gunflint guy. Would like to hear more about how you caught those. There has been a few recent posts asking for advice on what to take for tackle to the BWCA.

I usually have more questions than answers but hopefully I can give folks a few ideas if they are planning a Boundary Waters trip or going fishing up the Gunflint Trail. Dang walleyes turn my hair gray on some days.

So I made it out after a 2 month dove/duck hunting break. Let’s just say the real hunt has just begun.

Deb Rosenow caught this 25″ walleye on an ultra lite rod using a 1/16oz crappie jig tipped with a waxworm.

Got a few nice eaters fishing a Chisago area lake. I was out over a 30 fow basin area fishing crappies. The crappies were up high and the eyes were sitting on bottom. small white jigs with fatheads. Having flashers out with us was the key. 6 eyes and 10 nice crappies for two guys.

But here was the real fish from yesterday. This beast went 29 3/4″ and was over 10 lbs. Smoked a RattleSnakie spoon. Had 4 over 27″ between the two of us. All released to swim again….and hopefully we catch em when they’re 32″!

Here’s a couple from the past few times out. Plastics pitched shallow or dragging shallow.

Waaayyy late but I just saw this thread so ill post a few good ones from spring to fall, first two (daytime pics) were back to back fish I was joking/being cocky and called a guaranteed ten pounder on the cast that got the first one (30″), next cast got slammed by a 31″, next fish was another 30″ and change that night after that some fall eyes and the last two open water eyes of 2013 for me, I got a boat now so 2014 might see me landing a few more big fish

The blackest sauger I ever saw. The white on the bottom was it, the rest was black as night

Nothing screws up your day quite like losing a prespawn 30″
