North of Sioux Lookout at the cabin Walleye report

Went to our Ontario cabin for our annual August trip with 2 friends and one of their dads. We were able to make myself a nice boathouse while also managing to get some fishing in. The fishing was good but was dependent on finding them with the changing weather and wind patterns. Some spots held only a few fish one day with a certain wind direction while the same spot held steady action with a change in weather/wind direction the next day.

One thing I have always noticed with N. Ontario Walleyes is how certain spots can be red hot one day and cold the next by a change in wind speed/direction. One pattern we did find was the best spots were wind swept points/weed beds in about 6′ to 8′ of water.

We used an assortment of plastics (flukes, twisters, paddle tails, moxies) and all caught fish but white seemed to be the best color. However, a white B Fish N Tackle Pulse-R did seem to work the best.

Our average size fish was around 15″ to 16″ but we did get several in the 20″ class…perfect eaters.

Looks like a great time! That cleaning table probably has some stories!

Nothing better the eating fish after a long day out on the lake. Good job.
