I caught this walleye a few weeks ago. How long do you think it is and how much does it weigh?

Seeing how you appear to be holding it out at arms length, I’m with Corey. 22-23″ and 3.5 lbs.

    Getting technical on ya here…

Using a caliper I measured his ring ringer and the fish to set a proportion of size.
    Ring finger in pic= .135″
    Fish in pic= 4.130″

    4.130/.135= 30.592

Then measuring my ring finger as a life size comparison=.700

So .700×30.592= 21.414″ That is my length estimate, without pinching tail.

I kinda did the same, Mark. Only I didn’t use my finger. That’s why I came up with a couple more inches than yuu. LOL

Wow, you guys are good. The fish was 22 inches. We took the picture as a joke. When I showed it to a few people, they thought it was a huge fish. Its amazing what a little camera work can do.

Here is the same fish taken as I was walking over to measure it.

    Very good Bigfife!
The big clue for me (besides the hands) was that the Walleye’s head was as big as yours… A common photo practice in the website world.

    I was going to guess 22″ 3-3.5lbs.

I could tell it wasnt a huge one by looking at your hands.

That same photo with no hands or fingers showing and I would of guess 30″s. Find someone to photo shop those out and see what it looks like.

Measured just shy of 5.5″ on my screen. Not sure what my resolution is set at.

Can usually tell the length from a picture by how far apart the persons hands are

Now I see how you always catch so many big ‘eyes Fife

You are right though, taking quality fish pictures is a skill that definitly requires some practice. For example here are 2 pictures of similar fish but with a little better lighting and a slight extension of the arms the one in the 2nd picture appears much bigger
