high vis line help

I gave nanofil the year test and i’m “pleased” with it but the line strength isn’t really the best and it twists uncontrollably, plus it’s white and hard to see at night. it is really sensitive though..

for those of you that use high vis braid for river fishing, has anybody used the suffix 832 in lime green? i’ve used the moss green for a while bass fishing and am pleased with it but that’s 30lb. i’m thinking of going around 6 or 10 as i don’t think they offer 8lb (leaning more towards 6 anyway). i guess my other option would be yellow PP but i’ve only used the yellow catfishing and that’s 65lb. does color fade a lot on either of these in the lower tests? i don’t want to go red. friend uses red and it fades so fast to pink.

or any other brands/ideas/lb test are welcome.

    thanks

I have had good luck with the hi-vis PP.Does not seem to fade as much as Fireline does.Over 3 years old and holding up well. Now it could reversed to entend it’s life.Someday,I may try the 832…

X2 on both PP and 832 in Hi Vis. Have had great luck with both.

I love the 832. It seems to repel much more water for me that the power pro. I am going on the third year and the line that does come off the spool is a little faded, but it is not horrible. I will be re-spooling with it when its time. I am running 6/2 on three rods and all have help up nicely.

Gosh, I can’t tell you how many years I’ve used golden stren in 8 lb. test. It’s never let me down, with little memory and great vis.

    Good endorsements from top-flite fisherman!

I wonder about 832…with Ghost being available in 832, should that be considered if going to purchase? Do the green 832’s bleed or the color wear away? I am assume all three 832, regardless of color, are the same blend?????

I believe the Ghost probably is w/o a dye application. The Neon Green loses its luster after a while but the green is still visable after several days in the water.

I am definitely trying the 832 Ghost this spring…

When you guys are using high viz line, are you using a leader? How are you rigging your leaders up (length, #test, knot)? I’ve been using moss green power pro 10lb and I love it, but its very hard to see sometimes. I’ve been tying straight to the jig and have not noticed any difference from mono or fluoro in the muddy miss, number of strikes wise. I’ve been wanting to try the high-viz but I dont think it would be smart tying it straight to the jig.

The only problem I found with the 832 is that with the extreme cold weather of December fishing I had a lot of ice up at the tip my my rod. I do like the Hi-Vis yellow PP

Some people may call me old fashioned, but the newer lines, like Nanofil and 832 have yet to replace my old favorites- Fireline and Power Pro. I love 3/8 Fireline in the high vis yellow, or the 2/10 Power Pro, also in yellow. My go to guys year round.

Steve, you are old fasioned (you asked for it). All I used before I switched to 832 was PP 10/2 hi vis yellow. It is a great line but in my experience the 832 will repel a lot more water resulting a lot less line freeze in the winter.
