What does everyone use for line when casting crankbaits to wing dams?

I’ve been using 20# Power Pro for the last few years.

You will get most of your cranks back if you use that strong line. I usually give slack for 15 seconds and alot of times it will come out. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!1

Beef up a lot of mine to 20# Power Pro to. If its just me using the rods I have a few set up with 10# power pro. 10# will cut pretty easy on the rocks but gets the lures down a lot faster.

I like to use 10# or heavier braid. I have had the best results using Power Pro as well. However, I have heard good things about the new Suffix 832 also. I will use as heavy as 30#. Keep in mind the thicker line will cause the bait to run higher as well as give it a little less action.

A few years ago I tried 10/2 fireline. I lost cranks at an astounding rate. I would try it again now under the right conditions like deeper wingdams or using 5A bombers. But with that lighter line you can’t just chuck and crank. It breaks off to easily.

That is the down side to 10/2 fireline. You have to work the cranks across the wingdams a lot slower. When the cranks do hang up there is a lot less chance of getting them back. On the other hand I think you do feel a lot more of the structure the cranks are hitting with lighter line.
