Troll like you would for white bass.2.5-3.5 mph. We run about 130 feet back with 8#-12# trilene XL.Diving depth really changhes with higher speed and larger diameter line.Super lines are probably better but we go over flooded trees and stick a few lures there .

Pick up the trollers bible “precision trolling” it will tell you how fast to go and how much line to put out. It will also show you the diving curve of the bait you are using. Stick baits in current I often go less than 1mph, lake trolling from 2-3 mph or faster if I am after muskies. Good electronics will tell you where the fish are at and you need to consider your presentation speed and bait placement to what works and then adjust everything to what works.

I’ve been trolling crankbaits in the open basin of Mille Lacs for years catching suspended walleyes via long lining, planerboards, leadcore etc…

There’s a lot of information and tips in my reports.

    Go to:

    Forums

    IDO Fishing Reports

Under Search Reports – click the month and scroll down to “Any Date”

Next to Reporter – click my name “Brad Juaire”

    Then click “Search”

This will bring up all my open water trolling reports.

    Hope this helps!
