The law as it stands now denies people.
I hope most of you are just against purchasing liquor on a Sunday as your choice, but have no problem with a law, which gives other people their own chance to decide.
If you think opening liquor sales on Sunday erodes the fabric of society? I think people pushing their own self interest, paying no attention to others erodes it faster. Millennials vs the Mes.
If you exchange the word liquor with the word bait, it’s pretty obvious how silly we can be. Change is often difficult and confusing for the elderly, I get that.

Not so obvious to some I’m afraid.

Silly because the two are nothing alike? Bait and alcohol? Comparison fail…

Ever had tequila? Real Tequila? Real Good Tequila?

Both are consumer products, seems pretty fair comparison to me…
R-E-L-A-X That is what Sundays have always meant to me,family time.
Todays Electronic 24/7 world destroys what little time we have to enjoy the moment at hand.I’m with Dutchy on this one.

Because that’s when I, the customer, have time to shop. Weather it’s buying wine, beer, or a car, I have time on weekends.
A mix of these 2 replies is why 99% of our shopping takes place on a Sunday afternoon. It’s simply the most convenient time to get it done as a family so we can still enjoy each others company in this busy world.
My 87 year old neighbors make 2 trips to town a week (neither should ever be driving).. One trip to church and the other to the store to buy 6 boxes of wine.. This change is doing us all a favor, now they will only be driving once a week

One has a shelf life counted in years and the other is in day/s. IMO it doesn’t make any sense.
While I’m not a JIT buyer all I can say is, about time. Get this done so we can move on.
A coworker and I joke about him being a Just In Time shopper while I always have a variety of styles on hand for when the mood strikes, or for aging.
I don’t care who sells alcohol when, but if they do open sales on Sunday why don’t the offer sales at 1:00am as well?
I clearly can’t be expected to buy enough alcohol to last me all night if I can’t buy enough to last me through Sunday afternoon…

That wouldn’t bother me either. Make it 24 hours a day for all I care. I don’t understand why it should be regulated to be closed. Allow the businesses and consumers to decide.
If you don’t want to go, fine. If a city wants to make an ordinance, fine. But every city in the state shouldn’t be required to follow one person’s rule.
Along your lines, why not make it a Federal law banning sales except for four hours on weekday afternoons.

How about we stop selling gas with ethanol on Sunday? Apples to apples for you there Joe.
a lot of folks would be drunk 7 days a week instead of only a bit left on sunday
I live in Iowa where we have liquor sales every day. We can buy it at the grocery store, drug store or liquor store. Many are smaller stores too. I honestly do not understand why anyone would be against this in MN. Is it just a fear of change type of thing? Is it a religious thing?

There that’s better
Like I said I don’t care either way just thought the comparison was out there. Just don’t ban my bait
All I can say is the guy driving to WI on Sundays for beer is not doing it because of convenience. When I was younger this would have been a bigger deal because I had people stopping over Saturday all the time and I would find my fridge empty on Sunday. This doesn’t happen often anymore because those people also have families now. I also buy my beer for the week on Thursday. My world is not going to end if I run out of beer and I am not going to make the trip to WI to get some anymore. In my early 20ties I would have. I can see both sides of this. I just think congress has more important issues to be working on than spending their time on this issue year after year.

X2!!

I don’t have any lines. I just fish… You guys can get drunk whenever you want!
I think at this point we may have wasted as much time as the politicians!

I think it is both but I don’t understand it either.
It’s not like we will be opening drive through liquor stores.
I remember traveling around the country in the early 90’s and being shocked at the different laws. It really opened up my eyes to how controlling MN laws are. My favorite at the time was a state, maybe more than one, that allowed open bottles in vehicles, as long as the driver wasn’t drinking.
Going out? Mix a drink and lets go.
Going to diner? In some states we would stop and pick up a bottle of wine to bring along. The restaurants would chill it table side and serve it for you. Liquor stores would have quick chillers too. Grab a bottle off the shelf and stick it in a liquid chiller for a few minutes then be on your way.

I just wanted the example to touch as close to home as possible. I’m sure most of us would drive way further for Sunday bait than liquor.
Now you won’t have to buy 2 cases on Saturday to drink on sunday. Like said above if the stores open 24 hrs you can buy it. Just stop after church and get a case.
Have a small Orthodox Jew customer base, and the Sabbath ain’t nothing to mess with. Could be a bit annoying years ago when first working with them BC of those Saturdays you wanted stuff done, but man, after doing this kind of work and living the average Merican life the thought of taking a set time every week to reflect and be with family and friends is a pretty sweet deal.
Not saying its strictly religious beliefs for people that are against it, but that merely a day off for folks from working or maybe even from getting snickered up can be a really good thing. I for one am tired of seven days a week go go go.
Unfortunately, IMO, we’re way too far down the erosion road to play that card.

Hey! I am a social drinker. But I also have social anxiety, so….

Sorry, I may have misunderstood.
Heck it ain’t that bad, we can help them make up more stupid laws, and maybe we’ll be better at it…
I think most of us are social drinkers with a fishing problem.
