None on those, but would give a “B+” to some from Under Armor that I used for a few years. I think they were called “HOVR” or something like that. They’d be categorized as a tactical/hiking boot.
I tried to use them when I’d be putting on a lot of miles. I used them mushroom hunting, berry picking, doing fence work/repairs, doing some forms of yard work where I’d not be dealing with water, hanging tree stands, and in a tractor. They served their purpose. They were substantially lighter than work boots with better traction from softer soles, and were comfortable. If you are using them in an application where you want protection for your toes, might be kicking things, etc. then I would put on work boots. They also would wear out fast if you wore them someplace on blacktop/concrete all day

I get about 6-8 months out of Reebok or Nike sneakers compared to 1 to 3 months in other brands. That influenced some of this. Also know a lot of Airforce guys/gals use Reebok and Nike.
walking trails, light duty in the woods, grouse hunting, walking logging/forestry roads, light duty scouting.
A lot of places like this:

Just throwing that out there…I respect your thoughts on that. Trouble is if you look deep enough, everything is linked to dispicable people. I still use US currency and look how many people us it for money laudering.

For light-duty boots/hiking shoes/trail runners/whatever you wanna call them… Look at Salomon or La Sportiva. Salomon are popular and I have experience with La Sportiva. They have some that hold up very well and if you call them you’ll talk to a real person in Colorado who can give you a good recommendation.

Gitchi GummiPosts: 2997February 13, 2023 at 5:16 pm #2181458have you tried wingshooters? I am a big fan of those. Also the irish setter havocs are solid.
AK GuyPosts: 1381February 13, 2023 at 5:28 pm #2181462I own a couple pairs of Oboz. I love them. They are headquartered in Bozeman MT.
February 13, 2023 at 6:27 pm #2181472Back when I was a laborer for a concrete company I went through a pair or two off the Reebok’s with the side zipper. As far as I can remember they were very comfortable and lasted pretty well for the abuse I put them through. I really liked how easy they were to put on and take off, with the zipper and they were super light weight

I looked them up and they look nice and light Bucky. How are they in the hot weather?
February 13, 2023 at 7:56 pm #2181482I really liked my reebok hiking boot. They lasted me 2 spring seasons with lots of miles in fields and lightly through the woods. Very light breathable and most importantly very comfortable. I now have a pair of merrell hiking boots that only have a few weeks last spring on them, but I really liked them as well.
February 13, 2023 at 8:00 pm #2181483If your looking for actual military boots check out midwestboots.com. They’re made in Merrill (my home town)and Marshfield Wi. And ship out of Eau Claire Wi. They have a factory discount store in Merrill also.

They were better than my Red Wing or Timberland workboots for warm weather for sure.
If I see them on sale, I’ll get another pair. My original ones were pushed too far beyond intended use (shin deep river sandbagging they were never quite the same after)
February 13, 2023 at 8:55 pm #2181497Have you ever checked out the Irish Setter Vaprtrek’s?
I think they are worth a look at and try on.
February 14, 2023 at 7:34 am #2181545Appreciate all the recommendations and feedback. I have access to substantial discount with Nike and Reebok so it am leaning heavy that way. For the end price, if I get two full years of use I would be happy. My dinners and others are perfect for the places of more abuse. Really what I want is sneakers with high ankle support
February 14, 2023 at 10:10 am #2181590Looked at the various tacticool boots when I was looking for a pair of summer work boots. The comment that kept coming up again and again is that these boots all are designed for dry, desert conditions. Very few if any are waterproof or even mildly water resistant.
I ended up going back to my old standby. Merill hiking boots. Waterproof and I get years out of every pair I’ve owned.

Just throwing that out there…just haaaad to get that little jab in there… couldn’t help yourself, could ya?

Randy why no just some high top tennis shoe’s like some Air Jordan’s. You would look good in them anyway. Seriously though I still like to where the cheap black Nike Airs. They are comfy and give me enough ankle support.
G.G. Seems like you decided to police the forum this afternoon. Feeling froggy today?
iowa_joshPosts: 427February 14, 2023 at 4:39 pm #2181743I tried some reebok ones once. They had so much “ankle support” that i could shuffle around like a duck. That model wasn’t padded much around the foot at all. Sent to goodwill. Saw some of the “postal” boot models that I wanted to try on to see if they are a bit more moderate.
