Link didn’t work for me but I assume it was about the border being closed to at least the end of July.
While it hurts some fisherman on this side of the border it’s much, much worse for the Canadian camp owners. Plenty of water in Minnesota or as everybody likes to say……go to the Dakotas and use two lines.
Yup – thats what the link was supposed to be. Have several outfitter friends across the border and they are worried…. i also have several friends that own private places up there and they are very concerned as well regarding long term unattended places and the potential for issues – both bear and human.
Yes i assume the resorts up there will really be hurt. Most i go to are almost all filled with customers from the united states or europe. I had four canadain muskie trips planned. Three to lake of the woods and one to eagle. Still holding out hope that a September or october trip might happen. However, last article i read something like 80% of canadians want to keep the border closed for quite a while. If they do open i expect that tourists/fishermen will need to prove they can go directly to a location and quarantine for 14 days before interaction with others. For me and many others that would be hard to do.
I’ve got/had reservations to a resort on Lac Seul the end of June and gave the owner a call last week. I simply asked if he had heard anything about possibly opening up the border this time around. Before I finished asking the question he went on an absolute tirade about the politics behind these decisions. Needless to say, he is not happy with his PM. He also did not sound optimistic about it opening in June, but told me to call back later this week.
