OK maybe not everybody, but every newbie such as myself its a great idea.

Took the majority of the day yesterday to take my first pair of waders to Monticello, and learned more about current and how it works than my last 5 yrs fishing the river combined. Fishing from the get go was 2nd priority, seeking out new areas and how the river felt while in it took all my attention.

Always wish there was some kind of simulation with moving water and food coloring or something along the lines. Well that isn’t a possibility, but there sure is warm water up there that is just as noticeable as if it were colored, in waders.

Even though I didn’t catch much, I explored new areas never gotten to before and really look forward to getting out again to use the knowledge gained.

I would love to try this sometime. For being so close to home, there are some real quality fish to be had from what I have heard. I do a fair amount of fishing on the Rum in the summertime, but have done very little Mississippi fishing.

What waders are you using? I need to by myself a pair!

Any big surprises getting out for the first time?
