So who is taking advantage of the break in winter weather this weekend? A little mid winter boating sure makes the season go by faster. Ill be out on pool 4 Saturday and part of Sunday. With any luck and a open ramp hoping to get out on pool 2 a little Friday afternoon. Good fishing to those that get out.

Cranks with 3 way. 2 <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>perch on dubuque rig, and one jigging. I didn’t see one net come out all day. Can only get better. 😊
We were also out today….Two boats and caught 2 saugers and 1 perch all day. Also slow at night too.

At least he is a better fisherman than a poker player.

January 31, 2016 at 6:29 pm #1596867Yea those fish sure took a break this weekend. Still always fun hanging out at Everts. Bunch of good food, late night poker games and talking old fishing stories. Good times.

Did the fish take a break for the weekend or are they not there like they have been from years past? Not asking for that pool specific but the river in general from the pools I fish, pools 4-8. Seems like most of the fish (walleyes, gills, crappies) have been less and less? Perch rebounded but they are now being targeted. Thanks.
ShawnmojogunterPosts: 3313January 31, 2016 at 8:31 pm #1596901The bite in early December was pretty good on pool 4. I think the walleye numbers are fine. I think the one reactor being down and the much higher flow than normal are the biggest factor the slow bite lately. I’m sure the fish are there, but the conditions are so different than normal, (I at least) haven’t figured out what they want to eat, and if the marks I found on my locator weren’t walleyes I don’t know where the walleyes are. I have never caught or seen a perch caught in the past in the area I was fishing this weekend. This weekend however there were several caught by me and other anglers. Crazy conditions down there. Pool 4 always keeps you vain.

February 1, 2016 at 8:53 am #1596970I was there on Saturday and there was huge schools of shad from the dam all the way down past the Y. There was one giant continuous school of shad that had to be 200 yards long between the the confluence of the two channels and the tributary downstream. I know they were shad because we must of snagged two dozen of them using blade baits in the middle of the school. There was also a lot of larger marks in with the shad which I assume were walleyes and saugers gorging themselves. We caught one nice 18″ sauger that was stuffed full of shad and released a 14 7/8″ walleye that appeared to be full of shad as well. I don’t think the slow fishing was from lack of fish, I think it is too much forage right now.
February 1, 2016 at 10:13 am #1596991I saw a banana peel floating down the main channel up by the clam beds….
