Etec HO Not Peeing

I have a 2013 250 Etec HO. I got into some really shallow water on Friday where I couldn’t propel out of it. On Saturday I took it out again and noticed it wasn’t peeing out the back.

I removed the fitting under the exhaust and hooked up my garden hose to it in an attempt to back flush any sort of potential blockage. There was water coming out of the middle of the prop but nothing coming out of the two intakes on the lower unit. The impeller & water pump are both brand new this spring – that & the very shallow water Friday have me thinking the water line is plugged somewhere.

Anyone have thoughts on stuff to try or other potential issues?

    Thanks,
    Tom

On the bottom of the lower unit you should see screens, remove those and clean that out. I had a small rock get sucks in once and it got clogged in the tube under the hood right before the “telltale” So pull that hose off too to check.

You can also try using some weed whip cord and push it through pee hole. This will clear out the tube if clogged there.

Thank you for the replies I appreciate it. Iowaboy has also been a big help. I’ll report back later tonight or tomorrow if I get it figured out.

I keep a thin wire in my boat at all times. Those Pee holes tend to get blocked often when in shallow mucky water. Like someone else said the area near the screens also often gets clogged. If cleaning those two area doesn’t do the trick it may take someone like Iowaboy to help figure it out. if he can’t help, you are in for a lot of work getting it figured out.

Try what Thump said 1st (always start with cheap & easy)

Per Iowaboy recommendation I switched between muffs and top-down water. Whatever was lodged in their Brooke free and I didn’t have to dig into it any farther. I’m guessing I picked something up in the shallow. Thanks for the responses I appreciate them all.
