Pics – Not of fish, but taken while fishing…

Sometimes when you aren’t catching fish, which with muskies is known to happen from time to time, you luck out and catch some pictures that make the trip worth it. The last 5 days have been just that for me. Unfortunately they all were taken by my phone, so they are not the quaulity I would have liked to have.

The rainbow is from the North End of Mille Lacs from last Saturday. I was up huckin the sand by myself, dodging the storms as they shuffled around the lake.

The moon on the horizon was also from Mille Lacs, heading back over to the East Side to pitch some stones at dark. The moon was huge in the sky, unfortunately the picture really doesn’t tell the tale.

The foggy morning was 5:00AM at the Cedar Lake access. On this rare occassion I was actually the first one there, although I hooked no fish during my time on the water, the early morning fog, and the rising sun were a keeper.

The last is a shot from last night when I was out with Bobby. We thought the musky gods would shine favor down on us with the mammoth front approaching, with only an hour and fifteen minutes to throw, we saw no fish, but once again I got a picture that will cement the memory for a long time.

Guess my point is, sometimes I find myself so wrapped up in just trying to catch a fish, I forget to take the time to actually enjoy the opportunity I have been given to just be on the water.

Great post, but you should have put it in general.

I hate it when I forget to take ‘other’ pictures while fishing. My favorite fish pictures have ‘other’ pictures to compliment them that really bring back the memories of the day. The entire day.

And to think some people actually think we go fishing to catch fish…………..silly people.

    Great shots.

Here’s a pic of the big lake. The REALLY big lake that’s up by Duluth and Canuckistan. It wasn’t taken while I was fishing, but it’s still cool.

    I agree with you guys

Some of the best memories I have fishing aren’t always about catching the biggest or the most fish, but rather the time spent on the water with my friends ,and family

You guys have some beautiful pics

We should continue this thread of cool pics take while in the pursuit of Ski’s, that don’t actually contain a fish

Bob, I like the photo with the little guy in the front of the boat

Like I always say, catching fish is only small part of fishing.

Thanks again for the post. Because of it, last weekend I took the time to photograph some scenery. No musky, so I can’t post them.

Here are some from the bwca last weekend. Pictures do not do justice to the real thing. Not sure what the foot print is from but it showed up one morning at our camp site think it may be a wolf? It was about 5 inches wide.

Trolling weed edges on Mille Lacs, tough to tell were the water ends, and the sky begins.

Since trolling apparently leads to idle hands, another from the end of November a few years ago, fishing in a blizzard.

As calm as Mille Lacs gets and the Muskies didn’t like it. Fished every rock pile+weedbed on the entire south end of the lake, everything between The Red Door to South of garrison, and most rocks on East side over two days and didn’t even see a fish for the halloween weekend. Time to do it again next week!
