On Fathers day i took my dad out to western MN for his first musky fishing trip. That weekend he was greeted with his first musky, which happened to be a 50. We used a measuring tape and got it at 53 with a 23 inch girth. This weekend i went back out on the same body of water, and after 12 hours of fishing got hooks in my first 50. It boarded out at 52 with a 23 inch girth. I noticed the same black scars on this fish as on my dads, but didn’t really think it was possible that i caught the same fish. After comparing pictures i am 100% positive it is the same fish. The only negative thing was breaking it to my dad that we taped it out an inch too big and his fish was actually only a 52. Just goes to show the wonder of CATCH AND RELEASE FISHING!!!

Cool pictures. There is no doubt that is the same fish. I would bet you measured wrong and that fish is 53″s.

Think of how stupid that fish is feeling falling for the same trick twice.

unbelievable fish man. it happens more than u think when practicing good catch and release. i caught the same 43in fish 2 nights apart on the same exact spot on the weed edge at the same exact time which was 10:35 pm. it had hook marks in the upper lip from the night before and it bit on a different bait but both dc12’s. was your fish on the same structure or did it move? thanks for the report and practice good cpr!

That is awesome. Makes me wonder how many times it has given people the thrill.

We boated the same fish 2 weeks apart a few years ago to, same spot and almost to the minute, different baits though.

What a great story! Congrats to you and your dad! How far away did you catch it from the first time?

The fish was about 100 yards down on the same piece of structure.
