We were out fishing for walleye yesterday and decided to go try one of my old night time walleye spots after the sun went down. We were dragging light jigs and half crawlers. We picked up a few perch and a few small eyes and THEN… I felt a tick tick tick on the end of my line. Thinking it was another small eye or a perch I set the hook. I took a few cranks on the reel and then realized I did not have a perch on the other end. After a 15 minute fight on a medium action rod with 8 lb. mono we were able to net the beast below. My first Muskie!! We snapped a few photos and got her back in to watch her swim away. The 2 better photos are of my buddy holding her. The last one is of me. She was 42″ and we did not weigh her. All I can say is WOW what a fun fish to catch.

Sure you didn’t have a 4 1/2 pound crappie on for bait?

    Nice fish!
