Looking to catch my first muskie!

I’m a Iowa State University student on a summer internship in the twin cities area (working in Bloomington; living in Chaska) and have made a goal of catching my first muskie this summer.

I took a two day guided trip to Mille Lacs two summers ago and got skunked; saw a few blow up on the surface and swimming just below, but never caught any… since then I haven’t been able to stop thinking about catching one. I’ve been to Canada 5 times for Pike and Walleye, and have caught Pike up to 45.5″, but I really want to tie into a Muskie!

Does anyone have any advice on what I could do during my time here to catch one? I don’t really know anyone in the cities, and don’t own a boat (drive a car); I’m not afraid to spend the time/money to catch one though.

There is a lot of Muskie lakes in the metro/suberbs and trust me you don’t need a boat to catch em! Keep trying

RStien, Welcome to Mn & muskie fishin. It only takes one cast to catch one, one just don’t know wish one it will be. LOL That being said, I will offer you a seat in my boat this summer to give it a try if you want. I’m not a guide, but spend alot on time on the water. Shoot me a PM & we can talk more. Doug
