i was wondering what the muskie guys on the site like to use the most in heavy weed cover. i’m talking weeds that u can’t work a safety pin or a suick in it. i have a spot where i’ve seen some big ski’s but can’t find a bait to fish without fouling up. thanks for any replies

If the weeds are that thick, how could a muskie swim in the jungle, if you can’t get a bait through it? A safety pin spinnerbait W/willow blade, a slasher jerk (suick or bobbie), or top waters are your best bet for fishing holes in big weed beds.

Uncle Josh Magnum Toad or a big Slug-Go (up to 12″). Lunker City makes a Fin-S Minnow too that would work. All of these use a big 8/0 hook (texas rig).

The best way that I’ve found to fish the slop is to pick it apart like you would if you were bass fishing. Make short casts to open pockets with baits that move alot of water like pounder bull dawgs, super models and big spinner baits. Hold your rod tip high and burn. When there in the thick crap your looking for a reaction strike so big baits that give off alot of flash and vibration are the way to go. I can think of a week strech last year where fishing like this put 3 50″+ fish for me and my group of freinds.
