Revo Toro 60 will hold up, only muskie reel Abu makes IMO. Shimano reels are good as well as Diawa Lunas. We abuse them year after year without to many issues.
I’ll be at the show but not to long of a list this year. I’m sure a few show colors will follow me home and a few new Glittertails from Dave at Muskie Stalker guide service, other than that just going to see old friends. And of course the swap meet Saturday night.March 29, 2010 at 1:00 am #858205yea i’ve been having big problems with the c3 c4 and c5 reels. i called garcia one day about warranty and the lady on the phone told me to send my reel and receit to them and if it was under warranty (wich it was) they would send me another one but instead they sent me a bill for if i wanted another one and then i was stuck with the shipping. i hope they sure don’t treat joe bucher as bad as me.
March 29, 2010 at 1:18 am #858216There’s olny a few reels I would ever buy for muskies.
1. Shimano Trinidad
2. Shimano Calcutta 400 & 700
3. Shimano curado 300
4. Diawa saltist 30 & 40
I’ve seen every Abu fall apart even the toro!!As far as the show I’ll be getting a few more mamouth sues (shack attack) a few kraves and an arm full of phantoms.
March 30, 2010 at 1:30 am #858694I only use Shimano. This is what I Have/use.
2 Calcutta 400te
1 Calcutta 700te
1 Trinidad 16dcAs far as things go, I think I’ve got enough stuff now, however the only thing I need to find is a slightly used St Croix Tournament Muskie “Big Dawg” rod.
I had already spent my limit before winter had even loosened her grip b/c I bought a new Minkota Terrova 80 w/ I-pilot, a lowrance lms 522c, a new radio for the boat, a loomis mega mag heavy rod, a pile of cow girls, and Andy at Shack Attack lures poured some custom curly sue’s for me
Muskie season can’t come fast enough
April 2, 2010 at 5:15 pm #860116Yes, I think you would need to go TE if lefty….thankfully I did not get the lefty gene from my dad…
April 2, 2010 at 9:10 pm #860177I don’t get it
I’m a lefty, but I use right handed reels to me that sounds backwards

And I’m a righty and I use left handed reels!!!
What is really crazy is out west they look at someone using a right handed reel and their first thought is “they must be from the Midwest”

April 3, 2010 at 3:44 pm #860362I must be realy messed up, I’m right handed, shoot a gun left handed ( can’t shoot right) shot a bow either handed, reel a spinning reel with my left hand but a baitcaster with my right and can’t do either the other way around. I cast both with my right hand though. I also hammer righty and use a drill lefty, guess I’m a bit odd.

That explains everything Shaley
I reel with my right hand, golf right handed, bat right handed, but shoot bow and gun lefty
April 8, 2010 at 3:07 pm #862094I guess I am not so bad, I write righty, throw lefty, shoot rifles right, shotguns left. Catch wtih right hand in baseball and catch with left hand as a goalie in hockey….spinning reels left, and baitcaster right…Guess I cant make up my mind

Just curious, are these the 6500 and 6600 reels your having trouble with???
While I have several that are 15+ years old and they have worked just fine, I just bought a couple new ones, well two years ago anyway, and so far they have worked just fine.
Has quaility went down hill on these??
