I’m pretty new at Muskie fishing. What do most people carry in your boat if you need to cut the hooks out of a Muskie?

I had some cheap 10″ bolt cutters from Menards. They broke at a time I really didn’t want them to break . Now I have some Knipex bolt cutters. They cut through big hooks like a sharp knife going through butter. They are a little more pricey (about 50.00), but well worth it.

They have some on Ebay. Knipex bolt cutters

I had a Rapala Heavy-Duty Hook Cutter, but it busted pretty quickly. I now have a pair of knipex.

X2 on the Knipex, they cut through hooks 10 times easier than anything else out there. One of the most essential tools you can have for Muskie fishin’!

Especially when you have a hook through your finger! Not a good time for cutters to fail.

I second Jonny P!!! They are even handy with surgeries to smaller less desirable fish!!!

Ya, the Knipex work every time, unlike some of the cheaper ones.

On the other hand, since I bent all the barbs down on my hooks I haven’t needed a hook cutter.
