Who’s getting out this weekend? It’s been far too long. Where you going? What are your tactics? Post opener reports here if there’s anything to report. Sharpen those hooks, get the release tools ready, and hold on!!! I’m sticking to the metro area myself as time allows. GOOD LUCK SKLLLUNNNNNGEN!

I’ll be chasing them on Sun. I have a few lakes mapped out within a few hours from home, not sure which one I’ll hit yet? The box is organized, tools are ready, lures are sharp, reels sauced….ready to go.

    Good luck.

I’ll be out on Minnetonka all weekend and probably monday and tuesday as well.

Hopefully the cool weather will keep some of the pleasure boats off the lake.

Either way, I’m pumped and ready to get that first ski of the year.

Muskie Al we’ll be out there also. Hoping for overcast and drizzle, low 60’s temps with a light chop. That should keep the pleasure boats to a minimum and the light weights home.

Going to give Moose Lake, WI a try! Yeh-Yeh I know they have been open for a while but pumped non-the-less. Shallow cranks/glide baits and small bucktails.

I’m going to miss this opener. Like all the other before. Oh that right, I’m not a Musky Fisherman.

I’ve been fishing Wisconie for about 2 weeks now, and so far no dice

Monday I’ll be heading out to Tonka and have absolutly no freaking Idea where to start or what to use exactly

I know one thing though (Bob got me hook line and sinker ) and I bought myself about 6 of those big 12″ Dunwrights in a squirrly tail. I bought Walleye, Sucker, Stressed/Perch, Ciscoe, Black/Orange, and Fire Tiger. So they better work

I figure go big or go home

Muskie Opener was PERFECT!!!!! Rainy and Windy. Couldn’t have asked for a better day. Nobody at the Maxwell bay landing. 5 Follows and 2 fish. Lots of activity for me!!!

The fish that I hooked were 39 and 41. Not the biggest but I did see the biggest MTKA fish that I have ever seen. She was not HOT but just kinda wallowed in behind my bait. She has to be 35lbs.

They liked the baits small and fast – yesterday

I am off the water for a week or so, now. Work and Family Duties call.

I only saw one fish in the mid-30’s. I only fished for a few hours in the rain on Saturday afternoon though. Good start for a rookie like me. Bob B saw fish, but I won’t steal his thunder.

    Thunder

We logged 27+ hours on the water, starting at 3:45am on Saturday, and ended last night at about 6:15pm. We moved a lot of fish, most of which were low and slow. We did have two that ate and both came unbuttoned before they hit the net. It was a great weekend with good friend

6am to noon on Tonka, saw nothing and my buddies 90 horse merc may have a bad powerhead now, not what we were hoping for on the opener.

Fished Sunday 3:00 till 10:00pm when the showers moved in. Caught this bucket mouth with eyes bigger than its stomach. 2 LAZY follows and by buddy got his new PB 46″ on a white/prism Phantom in 12 feet off a shallow reef with green veggitaion. Hit on a long pause next to the boat. This fish still looked pretty beat up from the spawn.

    Nice fish

I was out on Tonka today from 1 pm to 8:30 pm and it was tough, but I did manage to see one in the mid 40’s size range

I marked her on the gps and I’ll be hitting her tomorrow

Tonka tonight moved 4 lost a mid 40 on a wtd. The last two days we’ve seen 15 fish and caught 1. Alot of these fish are way off structure something to think about.

Tim thanks for the heads up, we pounded shallow cabbage and didn’t see squat. When either one of are boats are sea worthy again it should all change by then.

Tonka again tonight WOW! Big fish like bulldawgs we just can’t seem to keep them hooked lost 3 fish from 48-50″ just crazy. I think that we’ve got a sweet thing going. I haven’t seen anybody else doing what we are and other people are not seeing what we are.

It sounds like you have a sweet thing going for sure. Keep at it, those big pigs will make it to the net. Congrats on a great start to the year

Was out on bald eagle for opener. We tried everything from phantoms, topwaters, even small bucktails in the shallows. To deep weed edges with dawgs and cranks still nothing. Even trolled a little a didnt manage anything. Think they were either off of structure or way deep in the slop. We’ll land a few next time we’re out though waytogo

I just moved to the shores of Mille Lacs in the off season and decided to focus on Muskies having never caught one before. I tried a bit last year and had a few follows but broke the ice this Saturday with a 45″ girl on a topwater. I think I have a new addiction. Sorry honey!
