Just by chance I got an invite to tag along with a fellow muskie angler Thursday night 8-14. Got on the water shortly aftr 6pm soon after he raised a low to mid 40’s fish that seemed like she wanted to eat after chasing his bait around the 8 a few time lost interest. We marked the spot for the prime window of sunset and kept fishing.
Came back to the same area about sunset and started casting away as we drift across the weeds. I make a cast and had a slight professional overrun that took me a couple minutes to get unraveled. I just wrote it up to a wasted cast and reeled in. I’m getting ready to cast again and look down shes laying next to the boat, I stick the rod tip back in the water, start a turn into a figure 8 and feel weight, FISH ON. Short battle later shes in the Beckman and my biggest muskie to date a nice fat 48″.
Pics make it look darker than it was but a cool pic as the near full moons over my head in the pic. A big thanks to the offer of taking me out and to the muskie gods for allowing me this catch. She swam off just fine to fight another day.
