The man that caught the first 50# + musky in Wisconsin in over 20 years last year row trolling, caught a 48# Vilas county musky this year row trolling also. I was reading in a mid December issue of Outdoor Wisconsin News, the trophy he caught last year he kept for his own as a lifetime achievment award, this one he tried to release but the fish was hooked deeply and treble hooks kept the musky’s mouth closed preventing him from getting a mouth spreaders in or cutting the treble hooks away, his hands weren’t functioning well enough with the wind and snow on that day and after 2 hours of trying to revive the fish he ended up having to keep it admitting that if he had someone else to help him release the fish it would of went better for the fish, Tom Gelb (the fisherman) caught the monster this year three days after the full moon a few day’s before the season close. This guy is 71 years old and obviously is quite the musky man and I just wanted to applaued his achievments P.S. He also mentioned he caught 5 “smaller” fish leading up to this one……
